What To Do When You’re Triggered

Feeling emotionally triggered can send you in a negative spiral and ruin your experience of the moment. Think about the last time you felt triggered. Maybe someone said something to you, maybe something happened or you witnessed a situation that created a strong emotional charge in your body. Perhaps you started to breathe heavier, you wanted to escape that moment, or you wanted to go in aggressively. 

So what do you do in these moments when you feel triggered? I recently was in a situation where I ran into someone in a public setting that I didn’t want to see and I got extremely triggered. My entire body started shutting down and I started getting a shortness of breath. This is what I did to help me so I didn’t faint.
