Yesterday I was extremely nauseous all day. The idea that my book is going to be available worldwide on Tuesday made me completely sick to my stomach.
I’ve barely eaten or slept in the last 2 weeks. This whole experience has been overwhelming for my body and my nervous system.
I found myself judging myself by saying –
“wtf is wrong with you… you’re going to be OK – I don’t know why you’re losing your complete shit.
You wrote a self-care book. You shouldn’t be feeling like this! You’re not taking good enough care of yourself!”
And that’s when it hit me… I was thinking that self-care should make my pain go away!
But that couldn’t be further from the truth!!! Self-care is there to HELP YOU THROUGH THE PAIN!
Self-care isn’t a cure to make the pain go away. It’s an opportunity to care for the pain you are in.
That is when I surrendered to the nausea I felt and the intense freak-out my body was in.
That evening, I did a session with my healer to help me calm my nervous system down, I went and got a massage, and decided to pick up some Chinese food (though I wasn’t sure if I’d eat any of it).
Ironically, last night was the first time I was able to eat a proper meal in weeks!
This was a great reminder that sometimes you just have to surrender to the pain you are in rather than fight it. I was fighting the feelings I was having about my book launch instead of accepting and allowing them in.
And guess what – releasing that resistance to WHAT IS – made ALL the difference!
Today I’ve been dancing with the fear. Figuratively and literally. Before hitting send on this email I just got up and danced to J Balvin’s (my fav) song In Da Ghetto. AAH WHAT A FUN SONG!
To transform my fear of focusing on what bad things might happen on Tuesday (which our brains LOVE to do)… I decided to shift my focus to “I wonder what miracles are going to unfold starting Tuesday.”
And that is your self-care note for today:
Self-Care is an opportunity to care for the pain you are in without judgment.
What pain or discomfort are you ready to care for without judgment?
